    DAY 1 USD 12

For your first day in Madrid, sign up for a Free Guided Tour (Free Tour) in the center of the city (2 hours). When the tour ends, visit the Royal Palace (4 hours) and the Almudena Cathedral. Have a walk through the gardens of Sabatini and reach the Temple of Debod. Try to be there at sunset time! In the evening, walk through La Latina and Lavapiés, neighborhoods with a lot of movement.

    DAY 2 USD

Walk through Salamanca, which is the most “elegant” neighborhood of Madrid, specifically along Serrano Street and from there, go to Parque del Retiro, Madrid’s best-known park. To see the sunset go to the Parque de las Siete Tetas (it is outside of Madrid, but you can get there by metro), it has amazing view. In the evening, take a walk through Chueca and Malasaña, which are two neighborhoods with a lot of nightlife. There you can eat or drink something.

    DAY 3 USD

Walk along Paseo de Recoletos and Paseo del Prado and through the Madrid area that you would like to visit (Gran Vía, Bernabeu, Plaza Cibeles, Plaza Colon, etc). In the afternoon, enter the Prado Museum (if you go from 6pm, it’s free). At night, take the train to Barcelona (the last train is at 9:25 pm).

    DAY 4 USD

Sign up for a Free Tour in Barcelona. When you finish, stay in the Raval area, losing yourself in its little streets. In the evening, go to Montjuic (Barcelona mountain) and end at the Magic Fountain so you can see the light show.

    DAY 5 USD

Start your day at the triumphal arch of Barcelona and continue through the Parque de la Ciudadela. Then go to the neighborhood of Barceloneta and spend the day at the beach (it does not matter if it’s winter! It’s worth it). In the afternoon / evening walk to the Bunkers del Carmel, a viewpoint with one of the best views of Barcelona.

    DAY 6 USD 54

Day of modernism and Gaudí. Start at the Sagrada Familia (3 hours). When you’re done, walk down Paseo de Gracia and visit La Pedrera (1h30). Spend the afternoon at the Park Güell (2 hours) and at night you can have a drink in some square in the neighborhood of Gracia.

RECOMMENDATIONS Tips for your trip

To go to eat in Madrid, I recommend to go to Mercado San Miguel.. A famous place to eat fried eggs is Los Huevos de Lucio too! The Mercado de San Anton is another one that is very fashionable nowadays.

In Barcelona I recommend you to eat at the beachfront stalls that are good and El Nacional where you will find plenty of gastronomic offer.

Take care in summer to Madrid and It’s too hot.

In Barcelona I recommend that instead of buying the subway tickets separately, buy the T-10.

Important information:

Schengen visa: see if you need a visa to enter the Schengen area here.

Metro tickets in Madrid and Barcelona are bought in some machines that are in each station.

To see the Magic Fountain in Barcelona, check the schedules (they change depending of the time of the year)

To find a good rate for the train Madrid – Barcelona, you have to buy in advance.
